Who is Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan
Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President of India And Second President Of India.(1952–1962).
He was a highly-respected teacher, philosopher and prolific statesman. country’s former scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna awardee.
Historic Background Of Indian Teachers Day
When Dr Radhakrishan took the office of the second President of India in 1962, his students approached him to seek permission to celebrate his birth day (September 5) as a special day.
Dr. Radhakrishnan made his students to observe September 5 as Teachers’ Day.
He made this tto recognise the contribution of teachers to the society.
Ever since then, September 5 is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in all educational institutions across India.
The students in schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions.
Students perform, dances and host elaborate shows for their most-loved teachers.
According to Dr Radhakrishnan “teachers should be the best minds in the country.”
For school students, the day means getting roses, chocolates, gifts including handmade cards to profess their affection for their favourite teachers. For senior students, Teacher’s Day is one of role reversal and celebration.
